Dynalist alternative
A Dynalist alternative that keeps your outline yours
Your outline should not depend on a product account to stay useful. SpacebarX keeps it on your device, works offline in the browser, and gives you more keyboard control from the first day.
Import OPML in minutes · Keep your Dynalist account while you test · No card required
Keep the outline. Own the system behind it.
Dynalist users already value speed and structure. SpacebarX adds the control that matters when an outline becomes central to your work: local data, offline access, a keyboard workflow you can make your own, and views that never duplicate your plan.

More control, without more complexity
Your outline lives where you do
SpacebarX starts with your device, not a vendor account. Sync is optional and moves your file through a Google Drive or Dropbox account you already own. You keep the original and decide where it travels.
Your browser becomes a real workspace
Create, edit and search offline. Jump straight to an item, zoom into a branch and keep moving even when the connection disappears. The browser is not a reduced version of the product—it is the product.
The fastest actions stay free
Remap the keyboard, jump to any item, search across your outline and advance recurring tasks without upgrading just to keep your workflow moving. SpacebarX keeps the mechanics of fast outlining in the free plan.
One plan, more useful perspectives
Keep every note and task in one tree. Use Today to focus on what is next, Board to move work forward, Table to review details and Mind map to see the shape of a project. There is nothing to copy or keep in sync.
When Dynalist may still be the better fit
Stay with Dynalist if your outline must be shared or co-edited, if individual items need image or file attachments, or if native iOS, Android and desktop apps are essential today. SpacebarX is a private, single-user browser app that can be installed as a PWA. If your work is primarily your own and you want to control the data, SpacebarX is the stronger long-term home.
Bring your Dynalist outline with you
The move begins with an export, not an account transfer. Bring over one Dynalist document, test it in SpacebarX, then move at your own pace. Your Dynalist account stays untouched throughout.
Export from Dynalist
Export a document or list as an OPML file.
Import into SpacebarX
Import the file and check a familiar branch before moving the rest.
Make it yours
Use SpacebarX shortcuts, views and backups while you settle into your new workflow.
What imports cleanly
Item text, notes, checkboxes, checked state, hierarchy and sibling order transfer through OPML.
What needs planning
Due dates, styling, colours, numbered-list settings and collapsed state are not part of OPML. Attachments do not transfer because SpacebarX does not support file uploads. Tags arrive as text, but Dynalist’s bookmarks and tag pane are navigation features that do not transfer.
Questions before you switch
Will my Dynalist due dates and tags survive the import?
Can I try SpacebarX before closing Dynalist?
Can I share a SpacebarX outline like a Dynalist list?
Export one Dynalist outline. See how it feels.
Start with real work, not a demo. Export one OPML file, import it into SpacebarX, and experience a private, keyboard-first outline that stays yours.
