Capture the thought before it disappears

Great ideas rarely arrive when you are ready to organise them. Quick Capture puts the thought into SpacebarX in seconds, so you can keep moving now and shape it later.

Four thoughts, four keystrokes apart. None of them has a home yet, and none of them had to wait for one.

Your inbox is where every good idea gets a safe landing

Capture a task from a call, a line for a draft, a question for later or a loose thought on the train. SpacebarX saves it to your Inbox, ready for you when you have the context to decide where it belongs.

Capture in three moves

  1. Open SpacebarX and start typing in the Inbox

No mode to enter and no form to fill. The Inbox is an ordinary branch, so capturing is the same act as writing anywhere else in the outline.

  2. Press Enter to keep capturing—one thought per line

Stay on the keyboard until the queue in your head is empty. Sorting four items later is faster than sorting one item four times.

  3. Organise later: indent it, date it, or leave it

Tab files it into a project, ⌘⇧D gives it a date, and anything you are still unsure about can stay in the Inbox until you know more.

Why it works

You do not lose the moment

Capture first, structure later.

Nothing is detached from your workspace

Every idea lands in the same outline you already use.

The next action can find you

Add a date and Today brings it back at the right time.

Use it for

  • Meeting follow-ups
  • Writing ideas
  • Research questions
  • Daily tasks
  • Project notes

The thought only needs a few seconds. Give it a home.

Open SpacebarX, capture the next thing on your mind, and get back to what you were doing.
